Hisashi Yamamoto is a prominent organic chemist, currently a professor at Chubu University and also affiliated with the University of Chicago. He is known for his work in developing novel synthetic methodologies, reagents, and catalysts based on acid-catalyzed chemistry. He has held positions at Kyoto University, the University of Hawaii, Nagoya University, and the University of Chicago.

Yamamoto’s research centers on the development of new synthetic methodologies using Lewis and Brønsted acid catalysts. His work has led to the discovery of several new reagents and catalysts, significantly impacting the field of organic synthesis. He is particularly known for his work on chiral Lewis acids and Brønsted acid catalysts, including the development of the CAB catalyst and oxaborolidine-type catalysts.
