Dr. Ram Haddas is an accomplished professional with expertise in the field of musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Dr. Haddas specializes in diagnosing disabilities and functional changes in patients with various conditions. Dr. Haddas provides comprehensive diagnoses for a diverse range of patients, including those with musculoskeletal disorders such as lower back and neck pain, scoliosis, and rotator cuff tendonitis. Additionally, he works with individuals affected by degenerative diseases like disc herniation, arthritis, and osteoarthritis, as well as neurological disorders such as myelopathy, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Furthermore, Dr. Haddas offers expertise in sport and tactical injury-related cases, including ACL reconstruction, Achilles tendonitis, concussion, acute low back pain, shoulder instability, and overuse strains. With a strong foundation in human biomechanics, Dr. Haddas has specialized training in human motion analysis, including Electromyography (EMG), Electroencephalogram (EEG), wearable analyses, patient balance, and posture. He has received multiple international and national awards for his groundbreaking research work, particularly for developing an innovative method called the Cone of Economy. This method and classification system quantify patients’ balance and compensation, providing valuable insights into their conditions.
Before joining the faculty at the University of Rochester, Dr. Haddas founded and established the Spinal Biomechanics Laboratory at the Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas, where he worked for over a decade. This pioneering lab, the first of its kind in a US hospital system, focused on studying human movement biomechanics related to spine-related conditions. Dr. Haddas holds an impressive educational background, including a Ph.D. in Clinical Biomechanics, a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA in Operations Management. He actively participates in various professional organizations, including the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, North American Spine Society, the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, AO Spine, Orthopaedic Research Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society of Biomechanics, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society.
Driven by a passion for improving patient care, Dr. Haddas conducts research aimed at enhancing the lives of individuals with musculoskeletal and neurological pathologies. His work explores the impact of conservative and surgical interventions on quality of life, pain levels, psychosocial factors, and overall function. Additionally, he analyzes risk factors associated with various disorders to develop more effective treatment strategies. Dr. Haddas has an impressive publication record in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters and frequently presents his research findings at national and international conferences. He also serves as a peer reviewer for multiple journals, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in his field. With his extensive credentials and dedication to evidence-based research and education, Dr. Ram Haddas is committed to achieving optimal patient outcomes and making a significant impact in the field of musculoskeletal and neurological healthcare.
