Dr. Hasmat Malik is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor, Malaysia. Prior to his current role, he served as an Assistant Professor at Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) in Delhi, India, and spent 3.5 years as a Postdoctoral scholar with the Berkeley Education Alliance for Research in Singapore and the National University of Singapore. Dr. Malik is both a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Professional Engineer (PEng) in Electrical Engineering.
He has supervised 25 master’s students and is currently guiding 5 Ph.D. candidates. Dr. Malik has contributed significantly to the field with over 100 research articles, nine books, and 15 book chapters published by IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier. His research has earned him notable accolades, including the POSOCO Power System Award (PPSA-2017) for innovation in power systems and best research paper awards from IEEE INDICON-2015, and a Full Registration Fee Award from IEEE SSD-2012, Germany. His research interests encompass artificial intelligence, machine learning, and intelligent data analytics, with a focus on condition monitoring, fault detection, smart building automation, HVAC systems, renewable energy, and smart grids.
