Dr. Baoxue Yang obtained his M.D. degree from Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences in 1984 and his Ph.D. degree in immunology from Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences in 1993. After three years of postdoc training in Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of California in San Francisco (UCSF), he started his own research programs in the same institute, where he was promoted to assistant researcher of molecular biology in 1997. He worked as assistant professor in Department of Medicine, UCSF from 2003 to 2009. Dr. Yang has been working as professor in Department of Pharmacology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Peking University, Beijing, China since 2009. Now he serves as Chair of Department of Pharmacology. He is a principle investigator in State Key Laboratory of Natural and Biomimetic Drugs. He is also a chairman of Division of Nephropharmacology, Chinese Pharmacological Society, and a chairman of Division of Ganoderma, China Association of Chinese Medicine. Dr. Yang’s research focuses on renal pharmacology. His research projects include the renal protective effect of natural compounds and their mechanism of action with the aim of developing novel drugs. He has published more than 150 research papers in prestigious journals such as PNAS, JASN, JBC and holds 11 patents. He edited books “Urea Transporters”, “Aquaporins” and “Ganoderma and Health”.
