Biography
Dr. Ahmed Rafea received his PhD from Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse, France, and is currently a Professor of Computer Science and ex-Chair of the Computer Science Department at the American University in Cairo (AUC). He previously served as Chair of the Computer Science Department and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information at Cairo University. He has also held visiting professorships at San Diego State University and National University in the United States. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Rafea has led numerous national and international research and development projects as a principal investigator and project manager. His work has focused on Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Systems, Machine Translation, Social Media Mining, Knowledge-Based Systems, and Expert Systems technologies, including applications for the development of the Egyptian agricultural sector. He has collaborated extensively with European and American universities on the development of intelligent systems and advanced language technologies. Dr. Rafea’s research interests include Natural Language Processing, Machine Translation, Knowledge Engineering, Knowledge Discovery, Knowledge-Based Systems, and Data, Text, and Web Mining. He has authored more than 200 scientific publications, including journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. He has served extensively as a program committee member, reviewer, and chair for numerous national and international conferences.
